Searching for blogs...

How in the world does one search for good blogs? I've been poking around, trying to find some that will at least make me laugh, or that I'll find interesting, and have had very, very little luck. Ideas?

  1. I click around on the blog list of blogs I already read and enjoy. Not always winners, but very often they are blogs with a similar style. I also click through links when some blogs highlight blogs that they follow. I know that desire to inspire blog has a weekend links post where they list out a dozen or so design blogs. Usually one or two in there that I enjoy. If you're looking for a funny blog, try Petunia Face.

  2. Generally I go through the spidering/social networking route. Somebody on Twitter will post a link to their blog or something, I'll check it out, and from there I'll check out the blogs of people who've left interesting comments. From those blogs, I'll check out their comments, etc.

While a lot of the blogs I come across this way are either slow to update or completely dead, and the person just left the link in their comment by habit, this is a good way to find a lot of really good blogs that haven't quite made it yet.

  3. I agree with them. I visit blogs, then visit the Followers blogs.

  4. Yep, been doing that, and have had some limited success. But then there's people, whose names I won't mention, like D14BL0 (oops), who don't have their followers on their blog. Or at least not that I can find.

  5. I'm considering adding something similar to my blog. The problem is picking the right network to bring me the most traffic. Obviously I can't add follower widgets for ten different networks - it'll just be a huge mess.

    I'm kinda torn on it.

  6. At least for your blog though. Like blogger has, a little "follow me" thing. I dunno.
